Bush Junta Federal Budget DOA, Financially Bankrupt

The Bush junta released their vision of the federal budget and it is quite fanciful. The budget totally understates the financial requirements necessary for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as revenues with a recession now underway. Like all presidential budgets, this one is dead on arrival to Congress and offers numbers with no realistic worth for future years as well. A budget closer to balance (less than $50 billion) is truly required. There are only two ways to get to that ideal -- end the wasteful expensive occupation of Iraq posthaste, and eliminate all those tax cuts for rich people and corporations passed in 2001. Some spending increases are needed, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, mass transit, highway construction, and health care.

The final product when enacted and signed late this year will end up looking nothing like what the junta has proposed.
