The long term decline of income relative to housing costs and other expenses has a chance to be reversed in at least a modest way if the 111th Congress enacts proposed legislation to better level the working environment everywhere across the nation. The Employee Free Choice Act is a superb start towards ending the problem of income inequality that has increasingly seriously worsened over the last 28 years. This legislation will be an important step towards economically and politically empowering the middle class and even the poor. Although there will be opposition from right wing Republicans who have big business and corporations deep in their pockets, this year offers the greatest promise for enlightened progressive legislation like this to pass for the first time since the years of the Carter and Johnson presidencies over a generation ago.http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090126/kaplan?rel=hpbox
