The Times Are A-Changing, and the Ways They are Lit Up

The way we will be lit up in the world is undergoing is a big changing with the phasing out of incandescent bulbs after over a century of mainstream use. Hopefully LED lighting will become the norm and standard in a quicker time frame than is being envisioned. Fluorescent lighting may save on energy, but the bulbs themselves are toxic (mercury is used in these bulbs). Also vision in many individuals is harmed by regular exposure to fluorescent lighting and damage with visual deterioration often happens. My own vision issues are directly due to years of working in environments with fluorescent lighting. GE has made a slew of money and made many corporate executives and honchos obscenely wealthy with fluorescent lighting, and it looks as if they are in for a massive new cash windfall over the next decade with the mandated change to fluorescents.
