January '08 Ends Up Cooler Across US

Here are some of the climatological reports and summaries from January '08. Overall it was colder than normal across much of the nation. The western half of the US bore the brunt of that cold more so than the eastern half of the nation. The Northeast had a very warm January for the most part. Many climatologists and weather observers concluded January '08 was more like a March. And so far, February is starting like an April, with unfortunate deadly tornados, windstorms, snowstorms, and very warm temperatures across the Southeast and cold temperatures across the northern heartland. In a word: unsettled, like early April usually is.
