Willard Mitt Romney surprisingly ended his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination today. Many expected Romney to fight on at least through February, but he faced impossible odds in trying to overcome Republican frontrunner John McCain, and reports had emerged that his ability to raise campaign funds had all but vanished in the last few days.Hardcore rightwing GOP zealots are in a state of chaos as they are now forced to accept and deal with the fact that McCain will be the party's nominee for President. The perennial blindness and bias of these people, led by media blowhard and propagandist Rush Limbaugh, and others of his ilk, in continuing to chastise and condemn McCain, is yet another sign of the lack of perspective and reality in the minds of these kinds of people. They put their own selfish interests first always and scorn anyone who has an alternative or contrary view that is truly better than those they have. This petty foolishness will be their death and undoing completely. If rightwing zealots refuse to accept McCain, they doom their party to defeat in the November elections, and probably by a significant enough margin to make a Democratic victory appear to be a mandate by voters. Republicans may think things are bad for their kind now, but they have no idea how things will change if a new political environment such as one created by a voter mandate does eventuate. They best all get on the same page and offer full support for the McCain candidacy to preserve what they can in the new political landscape that inevitably will emerge in '09 after eight years of the Bush junta debacles, blunders, lies, subterfuge, embarrassments, disgraces, and shame.
