How Influential are Your Congressmen and Senators ?

This recently released study shows how members of the US Senate and House rank in their effectiveness and influence among their peers. Representation from the seven states making up the Mountain West is overall poor. Things are better in the Senate with Majority Leader Reid from Nevada (1), Baucus of Montana (6), and soon to be President McCain (!?!) from Arizona (10). The US House is miserable with only DeGette from Colorado (66) and Berkeley from Nevada (77) ranking in the top one-quarter from the Representational body. Wyoming and Idaho have their entire representation with virtually no power or influence, and this part of the region fares quite poorly overall which is an enormous disadvantage for obtaining funds and programs vital for the economic security, health, and diversification of the time zone and periphery. This goes a long way in explaining why our infrastucture is in such a sorry and deficient condition. Hopes for any improvement after the elections later this year would not seem promising.
