Long Term Corporate Criminal Misconduct and Behaviors

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/24/science/earth/24deny.html?_r=2&hp&pagewanted=all

Oil corporations have been more deadly and destructive collectively to mankind than Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and other despots in history. It is no wonder they base their continued existance on lies and mistruths. In the end, they will lose and lose hard.

Eighteen Game NFL Season Likely by 2010 or 2011

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4096559

I believe this is going to happen, but I am opposed to extending the season deeper into winter. Regular season games should be played in August and the regular season should still end around New Years at the latest. The Super Bowl should still be played the last Sunday in January or the first Sunday in February. Subjecting fans in outdoor stadiums at northern cities to brutal winter cold is utterly awful customer service.

Something to be aware of, especially if one is in the Southwest and considering going into places where it is quite crowded.

A Highly Debatable Subject

hto
tp://norris.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/04/23/whats-a-necessity/

The question of what we perceive as necessities....for some it is just hot pizza, cold beer, the fridge, the tube, the can, and the easy chair -- I am not talking about me, you jokers....

Northern Rockies Amtrak Re-Establishment Under Consideration

http://www.missoulanews.com/index.cfm?do=article.details&id=CF497111-14D1-1357-9C5CC475C003A23C&page=1

Bring back the North Coast Hiawatha Amtrak line from Seattle to Chicago ! And all who reads my posts here and on my blogs knows of my ardent support for the restoring of the Pioneer Line from Denver to Salt Lake via southern WY and the construction of high speed rail from Albuquerque to Casper initially as well as in other corridors including Albuquerque to Dallas across the US.

The News From Pakistan Worsens

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/23/world/asia/23buner.html

This only continues to be a growing concern, not only for reasons of US and Middle East security, but also what the impact will be for India. A nuclear exchange between a Taliban Pakistan and a shaken India becomes a little more possible each passing day.

More Texans Want Out Than Imagined

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/4/23/723608/-Lots-of-unpatriotic-Texans-want-out-of-the-union

Half of all Republicans want out of America ? Well, its only a few hours drive at most to cross the Grand River into Mexico, where labor is cheap, tasty food and liquor is ample, and the weather might even be better. Just pay off the local alcalde and the sky's the limit....

Future Food Shortages Will Happen

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=civilization-food-shortages&amp%253Bpage=5

Rather long, wordy, and technical article about the probability of food shortages in other parts of the globe. But it will become an issue in the US within the next three decades as climate change devastates previous productive crop growing areas across much of the US.
